My name is Ryan Vettel, I'm making this for my older brother, Kurt, on behalf of our Mother.

On May 26, 2026, my older brother, Kurt Droese, was seriously burned in a catastrophic explosion at the Nippon Dynawave Paper Mill in Longview, WA. The explosion released 600,000 gallons of highly toxic and corrosive chemicals, killed 11 men, and caused injuries to many others. Kurt suffered 3rd degree burns over 35% of his body, will lose some or most of his right hand, and will be in the hospital’s burn center for at least six to nine months.

Kurt’s beloved dog, Eddie, is in wonderful hands in his temporary home until Kurt can take care of him again. Our Mother, Jessie Vettel, must travel from her home in Carson City, NV to Portland, OR to visit and assist in Kurt’s recovery. Jessie and her husband live on a fixed retirement income, and will need assistance with transportation (air fare and rental car) as well as lodging for many months.

Any help will be much appreciated, even a share goes a long way. All income will be put towards helping Momma Bear take care of her boy.
