In Loving Memory of Kun Koeul

----------Update---------
My family decided to cremate our father, husband and grandfather, Kun Koeul, instead of casket burial. Due to time restrains, we had to choose a more affordable route and realistic goal. The goal fundraiser mark to reach is much lower than before. My family Thanks everyone who has helped us this far in reaching our goal. We will never forget the love and generosity you all have provided towards our family.
---------- Update ---------
In the afternoon on May 16th, my father, Kun, sadly passed away suddenly due to a cardiac arrest.
In the wake of this tragedy, my family and I are not only grieving, but are dealing with the financial burden that comes with this sudden loss. We are currently reaching out to our friends, family, and community for support that can be offered to lessen the financial burden. Your generosity will help cover funeral costs as we move forward from this heartbreaking chapter in our lives. We plan to bury him with his son, our brother Samnang Koeul who passed away 12 years ago.
The legacy my father left behind was that he was a kind, loving, caring friend, devoted grandfather, father and husband, who loves watching Pro Wrestling and The NBA basketball team which was the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe Bryant was his favorite Basketball player of all time. My father, every day, would wear at least one Lakers logo to give the team good luck. The Lakers was also his 3rd oldest son, Samnang, who had passed in 2012, favorite team. My father loved to take walks, fishing and most of all, play with his grandkids and kids. There wasn't a day he yearned to spend time with his family.
Prior to immigrating to the US escaping the Khmer Rouge as a refugee with his young family, he was a site supervisor construction worker. He had 2 sons in Cambodia and a daughter. Both sons passed at a very young age. During the Khmer Rouge, his daughter and wife who was 7 months pregnant were on the run. They were eventually captured, but somehow managed to escape. Unfortunately, my father stepped on a landmine which caused his leg injury. They were able to escape to the border of Thailand, where his wife gave birth to his 3rd son and lived in the camp for a few months before being sponsored by a priest and his family in Oregon.
When he immigrated to the US, he learned automotive mechanic skills and was a baker for donut shops. He had 3 more sons and 2 more daughters after moving to California. He was able to support his family doing odd jobs and putting his automotive mechanic skills to use and supported his family, living in a small 1 bedroom apartment in Santa Ana, CA. He became known as the community automotive mechanic.
Fast forward in time, Kun became a grandfather to 5 wonderful grandkids and gained 3 son-in-laws and 2 daughter-in-laws.

Our family will remember him until the end of time. Thank you for taking the time to read and learn about his legacy. With the goodness of your heart, I do hope you can help the Koeul family financially.
The Koeul Family Thank you kindly in advance.
