Sometime between March 7–9, my little brother Kris Bowers suffered a hemorrhagic stroke at home, which resulted in significant cognitive impairment. In his confused state, his home sustained serious water damage that required immediate attention. He was alone for at least a day or two until a friend checked on him Monday, March 9. Since then, he has been in the neurological ICU at Carolinas Medical Center Main. At this point, Kris is still in the ICU, awaiting insurance clearance to be moved to a rehabilitation facility—Forest Oakes in Albemarle. While we’re encouraged by his progress, Kris has a long road ahead. His memory—both short- and long-term—is currently unreliable, and his recovery timeline remains uncertain. We’re hopeful for meaningful progress over the next 6–8 months.
Kris owns Bowers Welding and Crane Service, which he has successfully operated for about 10 years. With the business now on hold, ongoing expenses like insurance and bills continue to add up. The funds raised here will go toward keeping the lights on in his home, paying for keeping the vehicle tags for his business current, and covering his monthly bills. Our goal is to help cover these essential costs during his recovery so he can return to a stable life and business when he’s ready.
Firstly, I want to acknowledge some of Kris’s absolutely “Legendary” friends who have already fund raised to pay for the water damage to his house. There’s also a pool tournament benefit we’ve been made aware of. Any effort to help Kris in the middle of this very tough crisis will only ever be met with my sincere gratitude and appreciation. Thank you for considering a donation or sharing this fundraiser—every bit of support means the world to us.
