Support for Krav Maga Maryland
On August 25th, 2019 a sudden gas explosion in the Lakeside Shopping Center of Columbia, Maryland destroyed a large part of the building that houses Krav Maga Maryland's training facility. Thankfully, nobody was hurt in the explosion, however their school suffered extensive damage.
Krav Maga Maryland is currently unable to hold any classes or training at their facility and is actively seeking other means to provide training for its members. It is our intention to help them raise funds that would be used to provide training for their members and people in their community, with 100% of the proceeds being directed to this cause.
Currently, the full extent of the explosion damage is unknown, however it is believed to be substantial according to local news and updates (as shown below).
Krav Maga training truly improves and saves lives. Helping our friends, instructors, and fellow Krav Maga Worldwide family members recover from this tragedy means people in Maryland are sooner walking safer, stronger, and with more confidence in their daily lives. Fortitude Krav Maga (WI) and other KMW schools are coming together to support them during this time of need and we appreciate any generosity that can be given toward this cause from the bottom of our hearts. Please refer to any updates below from Krav Maga Maryland on the status of the explosion and their recovery. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support you can provide.
(UPDATES)
Here is a notice from KMMD posted on 8/25/19:
"Hi Krav Family & Friends,
As you have likely heard by now, there was a gas explosion in the Lakeside Shopping Center that houses our Columbia training center. The good news is that nobody was in the building and our students and staff are safe. Unfortunately, our suite was damaged in the explosion. There is a lot of information that we don't know, and we do not yet have access to the building to understand the scope of the damage.
Classes for Monday & Tuesday are definitely cancelled, and we will communicate more information as we have it. You are all free to train at our other locations in Annapolis and Capitol Hill while we look for interim training space. Further, if you have any leads for short-term floor space in the Columbia/Elkridge/Ellicott City area, please shoot Jeff Mount an e-mail at [email redacted] We're working hard to get you guys back to training as soon as possible!
In an effort to support accurate information, we kindly ask that you do not spread unverified information or photos of the damage, as we really don't know the extent of it at this time.
Keep an eye out on your e-mail, our Facebook page, & website for further updates, and please keep us in your thoughts while we work through this. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding".
