Thank you for your interest in helping my friends! Here is Milissa's story,
I had a lump that I noticed in March that felt like a clogged milkduct. Ethan is 4 so I haven't nursed in over three years. I justified it by being over 40, I just bought new bras and maybe they were constricting that spot, etc. When the covid stuff started opening up again I made an appointment with my normal doctor. This would have been the end of June. By this time the 1 spot had turned into 3 that all felt completely different. When she examined me she didn't feel any of them. She completely skipped over all three spots and I had to show them to her. She said that one big one felt like a cyst, but I should probably have a diagnostic mammogram to be safe. I had decided to wait being that she didn't even find them and that they probably wouldn't do anything for a cyst anyway, but luckily Dan told me to go in anyway. I had the mammogram on Friday, July 10th and then they also did an ultrasound. They found a fourth spot with an ultrasound. I went in Monday, July 13th and had two of the spots biopsied. And Tuesday, July 14th they called and said I had cancer and needed to get it removed. The next Wednesday I had a breast MRI and they found a fifth spot. And the MRI showed that one spot was maybe growing into my pectoral muscle. So, exactly 4 weeks after I was told I had cancer I had my surgery. I am very young for this. It doesn't run in my family. I am otherwise a very healthy person. I am blessed because I caught it early. I think this could have been an even worse outcome if Dan didn't tell me to go in. The word cancer is scary, but that shouldn't make us avoid it, but take it head on.
Since Milissa's surgery, she has found out that she is "high risk" for metastasis. Her first round of chemo began on September 21st. The A/C chemo that Milissa is undergoing is also known as the "red devil". She has lost all of her hair, the treatment could cause permanent heart damage and will pretty much ruin her immune system. Dan and Milissa work together in their in-home daycare. It was suggested by her oncologist that they close the daycare and keep their kids home from school to eliminate the amount of germs coming into their home. The daycare is their only income. They have decided to stay open. The money we raise would help with any medical expenses and in case they do need to close their doors, it would insure some income.
Milissa just turned 41 on September 4th. She has a loving husband, 5 kids who love her, a BIG love for God, lots of friends and family, and a lot of life to live. Please give if you can and lift The Kitzberger's up in prayer.
THANK YOU!
