Kimberly Dawn Thompson, my aunt, has always been a caring and dedicated person, especially when it comes to helping animals in need. As a single mother in Polk County, she works tirelessly to provide for her daughter and to foster animals, giving them a second chance at life. On Tuesday May 12th, Kimberly faced an unimaginable tragedy when she was viciously attacked by a PitBull rescue she was fostering at her home. Her 6-year-old daughter, who witnessed the attack, bravely called 911 for help.

The injuries Kimberly sustained were severe, affecting the muscles, tendons, and ligaments in both of her arms. Due to the extent of her injuries, she was life-flighted from Winter Haven, FL to Lakeland Regional Medical Center for emergency care. The road to recovery will be long and challenging, both physically and emotionally. As she focuses on healing, Kimberly is unable to work and faces mounting medical bills, lost income, and the need for ongoing therapy and support.
