Support for Kimberly and The Nugent Family

Kimberly Nugent is an incredible 10-year-old girl from Lynbrook, NY, whose life was forever changed on August 10th when she was brought to the hospital with headaches and nausea. She was subsequently diagnosed with medulloblastoma and underwent emergency surgery to remove a cancerous brain tumor. While a majority of it was removed, Kimberly will still require long-term chemo and radiation treatments to beat this awful disease.

For those that don’t know her, Kimberly is every parent’s dream. She is truly one of the most genuine, sweet, kind, funny, and charismatic children anyone could meet. She is one of the star players on her lacrosse, basketball, and volleyball teams and brings absolute light and joy to anyone she meets. She is loved by so many friends, teachers, coaches, and family.

Kim gets this remarkable personality and talent from her parents, Tim and Kristen, and from being the best big sister to her siblings, Brianna and Mikayla. Tim is an active 20-year veteran of the NYPD Harbor Unit, the United States Coast Guard, and is currently deployed serving in the New York State Naval Militia. Kristen serves as an active Lynbrook Village employee working in our building department. This family’s commitment to service is unparalleled.

The Nugent family is as humble and loving as they come and have a long and difficult road ahead of them. Tim and Kristen will undoubtedly devote themselves, spending time away from work and home as they navigate Kim through this unimaginable situation. We are asking for anything you can offer this family to help assist with the financial burdens they may encounter and give them a small peace of mind for some of the challenges they may incur.
