Update: Kim has recently been diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), a rare, devastating, and rapidly progressive brain disease. CJD affects approximately one person per million each year and causes a rapid decline in brain function.

This disease can lead to severe confusion, memory loss, changes in behavior and personality, difficulty walking and maintaining balance, vision problems, and the loss of the ability to perform everyday tasks independently. Unfortunately, there is currently no cure or effective treatment for CJD, and the disease progresses very quickly.

As Kim's condition advances, our family is focused on ensuring she receives the comfort, care, and support she needs while cherishing every precious moment together. The emotional and financial burden of this diagnosis is overwhelming, and we are asking for help to assist with medical expenses, caregiving needs, hospice care, and allowing our family to spend as much meaningful time with Kim as possible.

6/28:Our family is walking through an incredibly difficult and uncertain time, and we’re asking for help. Our mom, Kim Wilson, is currently receiving care at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center as doctors work to determine what is causing her sudden and serious health decline. She has been experiencing ataxia, significant vision issues, dizziness, confusion, and severe imbalance, making even simple daily tasks extremely difficult. Watching someone you love struggle with symptoms that affect their ability to walk, see clearly, and think clearly is heartbreaking. Right now, we are facing more questions than answers, and the uncertainty has been overwhelming.

As we focus on getting Kim the care she needs, the financial burden continues to grow. Between hospital stays, testing, specialist visits, medical bills, transportation, hotel stays, and time away from work to provide care, the expenses are adding up quickly. We are creating this fundraiser to help ease some of that burden so we can focus on supporting Kim and advocating for answers and treatment.
