My name is Phil House, and my child, Harrison, is in the same 2nd-grade class as Hezekiah (Kiah) Swenson. Like many of you, I was heartbroken to receive the email from our teacher, Elizabeth, sharing that Kiah’s father passed away suddenly last week.

As a father myself, I can’t stop thinking about what this family is navigating right now. While I haven't had the chance to meet the Swenson family personally yet, I know that our school community is one that shows up for each other.

I am starting this GoFundMe to help ease the immediate financial pressure on Kiah’s mother. No family should have to worry about funeral costs, bills, or groceries while they are trying to help a young child process the loss of a parent.

All funds raised will go directly to the Swenson family to support them in whatever way they need most during this impossible time. Please join me in showing them they are surrounded by a community that cares.
