Late Monday night, I had to rush my husband, Kevin, to the emergency room after he became unresponsive. He is now in critical condition. Doctors have discovered a large cancer mass in his liver, and he has been transferred by medical flight to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, where he is receiving intensive care and preparing for surgery. Kevin is my loving husband and one of the kindest people you will ever meet. He is only 50 years old and this came about unexpectedly. We live far from family and do not have a local support network, so this medical emergency has left us facing overwhelming expenses all at once—hospital care, surgery, transport, lodging, basic living costs, and what may come next in his recovery. The hospital is 2 1/2 hours away from me, so travel and lodging are also a significant burden.
This fund is to help cover emergency and ongoing medical expenses, medical transport and hospital-related costs, rent and basic living needs while Kevin is hospitalized, and additional care and end-of-life expenses if the worst should happen. I never thought I would be asking for this kind of help, but right now I need to focus on being present for Kevin and getting through each day without the added fear of how we will survive financially.
If you are able to donate, share, or simply hold Kevin in your thoughts, it means more than I can express. Thank you for helping us carry this moment.
