Support for Kevin's Cancer Battle

Hello everyone! My sister Lindsay's significant other, Kevin, was diagnosed with a very rare bone cancer called a Chordoma on August 21st. Chordoma is estimated to be approximately 1 per 1 million people with only about 300 new cases diagnosed each year. It most often forms at the skull base or the sacrum but Kevin's is going through the T1 -T3 vertebras. After many tests and surgeons figuring out the best scenario to attack this mass, it was determined he will need a 2 day surgery. This is a very serious and complicated surgery with a lot of risks. They will be attacking this via anterior approach the first day and the second day attacking it via posterior approach. They will be removing the T1-T3 vertebrae’s to hopefully do an en bloc resection of the tumor with no spillage. They will be fusing vertebrae’s together and using a spinal cage as well. If en bloc resection isn’t possible, they will try to do some radiation. Recovery is a minimum 1-2 week hospital stay with rehabilitation following. Doctors are projecting a 3 month recovery but could be longer.

Kevin is the loving father of my nephew Jack and niece Evie (11 years old & 4 years old) who always puts the needs of others before himself. He is a very hard worker so being out of work is very hard for him. He is a huge provider of the family and is being challenged with the unthinkable of how they will pay their mortgage, groceries, medical bills, etc. My sister will also be driving back and forth to St. Louis to go home to visit the kids on the weekends and give them some normalcy as long as Kevin is doing okay in his recovery.
