Mr. Ken Raye of Zachary has spent his life serving others—with his hands, his heart, and his faith. Today, he and his family need our help.

Ken is a world-renowned saddle maker and master leathersmith, known far beyond Louisiana for his exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to preserving traditional saddle-making traditions. His work is more than a career—it is a lifelong passion built on patience, discipline, and pride in doing things the right way.

He is also deeply committed to shaping young lives as a drill instructor for the Greenwell Springs Youth Riders Club, where he has mentored countless youth through discipline, horsemanship, and leadership. Above all, Ken is a devoted husband, loving father, and faithful member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Clinton, LA known for his generosity, humility, and steady presence.

Recently, Ken’s family was faced with an unexpected and overwhelming medical emergency. Ken went in for what was expected to be a routine heart catheterization at Lane Memorial, but doctors discovered 98% blockages. A stent was not an option. His cardiologist immediately contacted a heart surgeon, and Ken was transported urgently to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, where it was determined that he would need open heart surgery as soon as possible.

This came without warning. Ken and his family had no time to prepare—emotionally, physically, or financially.

Ken is now facing a triple bypass surgery, an estimated week-long hospital stay, and several weeks out of work during recovery. As many of you know, Ken is self-employed, making this situation especially difficult for the Raye family as medical bills and everyday expenses quickly add up.

In addition to this fundraiser, a meal train has been organized to help ease some of the daily burdens, but the financial strain remains significant. This GoFundMe is meant to help cover medical expenses, lost income, and recovery-related costs, allowing the family to focus on Ken’s healing.
