Hi everyone, my name is Kristin Castleman, and I am Ken Castleman's niece. We are hoping to raise enough money to help cover his funeral expenses.
My family has been through a lot the past few years. We lost my Nana, Ken's mom Nancy, in January of 2020 due to cancer. Then, in November of 2023, we lost my Papaw, Morris (AKA Sonny), Ken's dad, from cancer. We have also lost close family friends, and even my little brother in the past few years. Since then, Ken, my dad Freddie, and I have been working hard together to stay financially stable. We were managing well together.
Unfortunately, Ken's health took a turn for worse last fall, and since then he was in and out of inpatient rehabilitation and skilled nursing facilities trying to regain his strength and be able to take care of himself again. My uncle Ken had a lot of goals he was hoping to get healthy enough to work towards. However on Tuesday, November 25th we were alerted that Ken was rushed to the emergency room, and then moved into the Critical Care unit due to his declining health. Sepsis took over his body very quickly, and resulted in him passing away early Saturday morning on November 29th.
My dad Freddie and I are all that is left in our once full, loud, and happy home. We knew that funeral expenses would be high since we have experienced this before, but nothing could have prepared us for this so soon. As most of you know, Ken was and my dad Freddie is fully blind - they were born with a condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa, which led to the total loss of their vision. Because of this we have relied heavily on disability income.
I work full time and have been attending college online as well. I am currently waiting to be accepted into a program so that I can get a degree and be more financially stable. But the past few years have taken a heavy toll, and to be frank - we can use all the help we can get.
My Uncle Ken was loved by so so so many people. I know he has some of the most amazing friends and support system. I will keep everyone updated on a date and time that services will on.
Ken's funeral and services will be held in Clarksville, Texas at the Clarksville Funeral Home.
Thank you everyone so much for all the kind words, prayers, and support.
