Kelly Lane and Nick Huddleston are dear friends who are facing an unimaginable crisis. Nick had been feeling run down for months, and after noticing swelling in his abdomen, he went to the doctor in September. He was referred for liver tests, but delays in getting radiology and specialist appointments meant his health continued to decline. By November 19, after his specialist appointment was pushed back, Nick was severely ill. His primary care physician sent him to the hospital, where it was discovered that not only was his liver compromised, but his kidneys were shutting down. Despite attempts to help with diuretics and dialysis, complications arose, and Nick retained up to 100 lbs of fluid. Dialysis was complicated by low blood pressure, and on December 2nd, Nick's heart stopped. After 20 minutes of CPR, his heartbeat was restored, but the lack of oxygen caused irreparable brain damage, leading to seizures and swelling. Due to multi-organ failure, he is now inoperable.

Nick is such a light in every life he touches—a true artist and creative soul. He made a career as a freelance artist, working in a multitude of styles, and played piano, guitar, and sang. Nick was always ready with a joke, an accent, an impression, or a song. He had one of the biggest hearts you’ll ever meet, always caring for others and helping friends in need. If he had a dollar to his name and a friend needed one, he would give it to them. Selfless and loving to the core, Nick’s spark shone like a lighthouse, bringing joy and light to everyone he met.
