Kelli is an elementary school teacher at Holomua Elementary in Ewa Beach. She’s spent over a decade caring for children, but now I am reaching out to you to help care for her child who is facing an unimaginable challenge. On February 11, Kelli's four year old son Rextyn was taken to the ER at Kapiolani due to persistent headaches and vomiting. Scans revealed a brain tumor. Shortly thereafter, he was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a rare and extremely aggressive form of brain cancer. Rextyn immediately underwent a craniotomy to remove the tumor however in just 10 days cancerous tumors returned to his brain and spine. He has experienced loss of several body functions, including changes to his vision, no movement in his legs, loss of speech, and difficulties with breathing due to the tumors pressing on his brain.
Rextyn has been in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for several weeks while doctors closely monitor him and continue his treatment. They have begun intensive chemotherapy in hopes of shrinking the tumors. He requires breathing support, frequent suctioning to manage secretions, medications to help clear chemotherapy from his body, and constant monitoring of his blood levels and organ function. Despite the many challenges, Rextyn continues to show small signs of strength—resting, responding to touch, making small movements, and fighting through each step of treatment.
Rextyn is the youngest of five siblings and brings endless energy and joy to everyone around him. He loves being outdoors, whether it’s playing at the field, running around the playground, or riding his bike. Rextyn especially enjoys spending time with friends, exploring, and making the most of every day.
He has a big love for food and snacks and is always excited when it’s time to eat. Known for his outgoing personality and bright smile, Rextyn is the kind of kid who lights up a room and quickly makes friends wherever he goes.
Rextyn attends Seagull School in Ocean Pointe, where he has been surrounded by teachers and friends who adore him. He is truly loved by everyone who knows him—a happy, adventurous boy with a big heart and an even bigger spirit.
Please help support Kelli and Rextyn during this trying time. Every donation will help ease the growing financial burden Kelli and her family are facing so they can devote all of their attention to Rextyn's recovery. Your support, whether through a contribution or by sharing this fundraiser, means so much. Thank you for being a part of their journey as they prepare for the challenges ahead.
