Kellie Goodwin, a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Nurse was tragically killed at the Tennessee Motorcycles and Music Revival Festival

On Friday, May 17,2024 around 5:30pm, 55-year-old Kellie Goodwin was struck and killed by a motorcyclist during a music festival at Loretta Lynn's Ranch. Her husband of more than 30 years was walking just an arm's length away when it happened. "It was horrific." She was stolen that day from the lives of her husband Maurice, her three children Ivey, Jesse, and Vance, her beloved grandson, Bradley, and all those whose lives she touched during her 20 years as a nurse.

Kellie worked her whole career at Greenville Memorial Hospital, focusing on cardiac patients and later patients with wounds and ostomies. I first met her when she was working on the third floor of the hospital. Whenever she would see me (I'mthe nurse manager of the wound and ostomy team), she would immediately stop what she was doing, spin around, and sit on the desktop. Then, while enthusiastically swinging her feet back and forth, she would declare that she loved wounds and wanted to join our team. She always did this, and she would even join us to help treat patients. It worked. When she applied, she was chosen over 2 certified nurses to join the team. On her first self-eval, she wrote, 'Exceptional, I am.' She did not remember writing it, so I made a sign and posted it at her desk. It was so perfect for her. She always strived to be great in her nursing career, and now that she is gone, we miss her so much, it hurts. We will always remember her beautiful, ever-present smile, her kindness to all, her ability to make us laugh, and her zest for life - a life that continues to give, even in death. As an organ donor, her kidneys and liver are now giving life to 3 people she never met. Kellie was a hero, through and through.

I have made this page on behalf of her family. We are asking for financial support to help pay her final medical expenses: being life-flighted, two separate hospitals, EMS, transport back to South Carolina, and funeral expenses. Maurice has been at his current job briefly. He will need temporary help with living expenses. Soon, he will have the expenses of traveling to and from TN for the court case and attorney fees. As more is known about the true cost, we will keep this updated. Please consider donating in remembrance of one of the finest humans I have ever had the privilege to know.
