On October 23, 2018, Keith and Linda Brew (my aunt and uncle) set off on their annual holiday cross-country road trip. They had planned to visit Noah’s Ark in Kentucky and then on to welcome their son, Eric, home from his tour in Afghanistan. Following that, they would visit their daughter, Lani, in Idaho, daughter, Jena, and son-in-law, Mark, in Washington, and lastly to California to visit their daughter, Alicia, and son, Kevin.
While traveling on the highway in Indiana on their way to Noah’s Ark, they approached several cars that had abruptly stopped. Since they were towing their 35-foot camper, Keith knew he wouldn’t be able to stop in time, so he veered to the side of the road to avoid a collision but over-corrected, causing the truck and camper to roll and crash into a ditch.
Linda was taken to a hospital in Indiana with a contusion to her left elbow and Keith was airlifted to the University of Cincinnati Hospital (a level one trauma center) for head trauma. Bystanders graciously offered to take little Finley home and to care for him while Keith and Linda were in the hospital.
While Linda was released from the hospital on the 23rd, Keith had to stay for overnight observation. He has contusions to his back and a severe laceration to his left ear, which required repair by a plastic surgeon.
Upon Keith’s release, they began the daunting task of clearing their belongings out of their camper, which has been their home for the past several years.
The most important thing is that their lives were spared (thank you, Jesus!), however, as a result of this horrific crash, Keith and Linda’s truck and camper/home are both totaled, rendering them homeless and without a means of transportation.
Please consider donating to this campaign so they can begin picking up the pieces and rebuilding their life. Anything you can contribute will be used to provide direct support (in the form of cash) to Keith and Linda while they wait for their insurance claim to be evaluated.
