Hello all,

My name is Kay, and I’m raising funds to cover the cremation and memorial expenses for my father, Eric Hutchinson, who passed away early Wednesday morning. This loss has been devastating. I’m now navigating the bureaucracy of his passing, all while trying to grieve.

My father was a complicated, brilliant, stubborn man. He was also a joyful, fun-loving individual who prided himself on living life to the fullest. He was diagnosed with mid-stage pancreatic cancer in April, and fought viciously until the end. He survived so much in his lifetime, and in this way, managed to pass down a legacy of resilience, wit, and love in his own way. My father was a staunch caretaker of those who knew him, and never hesitated to help a friend in need. He taught me plenty—from how to cook to how to checkmate—he was always in my corner. I loved him, and will miss him dearly. I wish I could give him the kind of goodbye he deserved: quiet, dignified, surrounded by warmth and care. But right now, I’m simply trying to give him a goodbye.

The costs of cremation, transportation, and final arrangements are adding up quickly. Unfortunately, neither my family nor myself have resources to cover all of this alone. Every dollar raised will go directly to making sure my father is respectfully laid to rest, and to easing the crushing financial weight of this moment.
