Support for Kayelyn and her family
Donation protected
On October 29, 2022 while headed to a trunk or treat for Halloween with a friend nine-year, old Kayelyn was involved in a car accident. The driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a concrete pillar head-on. Kayelyn who was not properly buckled, sustained a traumatic brain injury, among other serious injuries, in the crash. Kayelyn was transported by ambulance to LeBonhuer Children's Hospital, a level one trauma center, where she would remain for 11 days. Upon arrival, Kayelyn received many tests and scans that showed she had several skull fractures, Brain bruising, a brain bleed, an orbital flooring fracture, and a shattered nasal cavity. On October 30th, Kayelyn became unresponsive after having three seizures and a mild stroke resulting in her being put on the PICU floor. On October 31st kayelyn underwent a craniotomy to relieve swelling and pressure on the brain and fix the bleeding. Upon waking up from her surgery that night it was discovered kayelyn did not have much control of the left side of her body. During all this, Haley (kayelyns mom), a wonderful mother of 3, lost her job. The Driver of the vehicle did not have insurance, leaving this family in a tough place. Kayelyn has a long road of recovery ahead of her, many appointments, therapy, more procedures in December to fix her nasal cavity, and possibly long-lasting effects. Our hope for creating this is to try and raise donations to help this family with medical bills, recovery expenses and more. Please keep kayelyn and her family in your prayers during this time.
