My mom, Kathy, recently moved to Florida with our dog Nolan, for a fresh start. Now, she’s in the hospital with blood clots in her lungs, facing a serious medical emergency far from friends and family. I’m her daughter, currently in college, and it’s heartbreaking to know she’s going through this mostly on her own. Nolan (aka Cannoli), who means the world to her, now needs temporary care at a pet service facility so he doesn’t have to go to a shelter.

Kathy has been out of work for some time and has very limited funds. The costs of medical treatment, daily living expenses, and caring for her dog are overwhelming. Every day in the hospital brings new worries about how she’ll manage once she’s discharged.
