Kathy, my mother-in-law, is currently in the hospital waiting for a life-saving liver transplant. Her illness came on suddenly and severely, placing her at the top of the transplant list. This has been an incredibly difficult time for Kathy and our entire family, as we try to support her through this urgent medical crisis. Once she receives her new liver, Kathy will be required to stay close to the hospital for 6-8 weeks to ensure a safe recovery.

The costs associated with this journey are overwhelming. Kathy will need temporary housing near the hospital, daily meals, and help with travel expenses for family members who will be by her side during recovery. On top of that, her regular household bills will continue to add up while she is away from home. Although Kathy has insurance, the deductible and out-of-pocket expenses for housing, food, and travel will quickly become a heavy burden.
