No matter what, my mom, Kathy Raines, would do anything at any time to help anybody out, especially her family. She was the best bartender ever and taught me everything I know about being a bartender. Kathy loved to travel and had a special place in her heart for animals, especially cats. She would leave food outside for the stray cats in our neighborhood and even let them come inside during bad weather.

Kathy also loved working on boats and was a mate on the Carrie B tour boat out of Fort Lauderdale for several years. She always said that was her favorite job, and she thought of everyone she worked with on that boat as family. Sadly, my mom died on November 8, 2025, of a heart attack, just two days before her birthday. Her passing has left us with funeral expenses and financial challenges. The bank froze her account, which we both used to pay bills and rent it was just under her name and now everything needs to go through probate. I can't afford a lawyer to make that happen right now, and my job is slow. It's all I can do to keep the power on for me and my stepdad, who is not in the best of health after having a stroke and a kidney transplant and now I'm alone in taking care of him.

I'm starting this fundraiser to help pay off the rest of her funeral expenses so that i can bring my moms ashes home and to try and catch up on rent and other bills and my step dads meds, the bank froze her account which is what we use to pay for everything. Any support no matter how small or even sharing this with others would mean the world to us as we try to honor Kathy's memory and get through this difficult time.
