The Burt Family
Kathleen was a mother hen who took any and all under her wing. She was a woman of strength, generosity, and an affinity for putting on a noteworthy spread. Family meant everything to Kathleen; she spared no moment offering check-in calls, curated meals, or a soft space to lay your head.
As a widow of 17 years, Kathleen poured all of her remaining love into anyone who walked through her door. She carried two children, Tyler and Jordyn, who she protected with her whole heart. But, as we know, life can change in an instant—and sometimes the instinct for protection is not enough.
In 2021, Jordyn was rushed to the hospital for a rare liver reaction, causing her to be placed on a critical transplant list. She spent a month in the hospital with a team of specialists, which was followed with an extensive period of rehabilitation. With the help of a medical team and a highly intensive nutritionist, Jordyn beat the odds and found her way to a renewed sense of health.
In 2024, just a few years after finding relief, the family received a call that Tyler was found unconscious in his Texas home. At just 31 years of age, he had suffered an unprompted stroke. Tyler was in a coma for six weeks before regaining consciousness. He remained as a live-in patient for 11 months before continuing his ongoing journey of rehabilitation at home, where he fights every day to regain his steps. *You can support Tyler more by checking out Just Dew It > https://www.justdewit-tylerburtmovement.com/
In early April of 2026, Kathleen was admitted to the hospital for a bad chest cold that was thought to be pneumonia.
By April 9, the family was informed it was Stage 4 Breast Cancer. Inoperable. Terminal.
By April 15, the Burt children had lost yet another parent. This time—their beloved mother—the very fabric of their household. Their guiding light.
With the recent passing of Kathleen, it will be up to Tyler and Jordyn to carry on their mother’s and father’s legacy, and we know they will. But they need help. We are creating this GoFundMe because Tyler and Jordyn are victims of circumstance in the same way any of us could be. This family has truly endured a series of the unimaginable, which is why we believe it needs to be spread far and wide.
Funds raised from this GoFundMe will go towards:
- Funeral and memorial expenses for Kathleen
- Continued medical costs for Tyler’s stroke rehabilitation journey—including supplies, therapies, and in-home care
- Support for hiring assistance with navigating paperwork, legalities, and asset divisions
- Appraisal and moving costs
- Access to professional mental health services
Any donation is greatly appreciated, as are shares of this GoFundMe space. If you are not in a position to donate.
Thank you so much for taking the time to consider helping out Tyler and Jordyn!
