Support for Katelyn and her Family

On September 2, Katelyn had a horrible headache that turned into some facial paralysis and speech issues. Her family rushed her to the ER and she was immediately transferred to Milwaukee Children’s Hospital, where she went through a battery of tests. They felt strongly it was the side effects of a migraine. Katelyn bounced back and went home on Friday!
Unfortunately, Katelyn spiked a fever on Sunday, September 6, the symptoms returned but this time much more severe. They rushed her to the ER, who transferred her this time to Lutheran General, which houses one of the best pediatric trauma units in the Chicagoland area. More tests were done and a severe non-Covid-19, non-contagious viral infection was found in her brain. In medical terms, she was diagnosed with Encephalitis. She is currently fighting in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit!
At this time, Katelyn is responding to several medications, but has yet to regain lucid consciousness. We are confident with prayers and her outstanding doctors, our amazing and confident Katelyn will wake up and start the long process back to throwing doubles and being tossed in kick double baskets.
Katelyn is an integral and instrumental all star cheer athlete at Cheer Extreme Chicago, put another way, cheer is her life :) Currently, Katelyn is a flyer on CEA Chicago’s XS Senior 6 team, Love and Light, and a main base on the Junior 5 team, LEDivas! Also, Lisa, Katelyn’s mom, is the beloved team mom for LEDivas. Before cheering at CEA Chicago, Katelyn cheered at Twisters Elite, where both Katelyn and Lisa were both deeply committed and dedicated to the gym. Both the CEA and TE gyms are working together to help Katelyn and her family.
This is where we need your help! Lisa, Katelyn and their family have given so much over the years. It is now our turn.
In addition to steady prayers and love, we want to use this Go Fund Me to purchase gas and dining gift cards, assist in what expenses we can help with and provide Katelyn what ever she needs as she fights to get back to her sassy, silly and spunky self. Every little bit helps!
