Every so often you read about someone who is an example of what a man should be. And every now and again you come across another who shows you what a husband should be. Rarer still, do you cross paths with one who presents fatherhood in a way that truly inspires you and sets a benchmark. But, almost never does a man with all three walk, with his family in tow, hand in hand with God, right into your neighborhood and fall into your family's lives. Kason Smith did just that... and he will leave an indelible mark on every life he touched.
Kason Smith was a purple belt instructor and leader in our incredibly tight knit HBJJ/Bandit Combat Sports family. He, his wife, and their three children have been on the Jiu Jitsu mat together with all of our families for the last 6 years. All champion wrestlers, his oldest two just returned from representing their state, Team Texas, at this years National Duals... the youngest, a state champion in her own right, being too young this year to qualify. Next year... all three.
A true pillar in our community, Kason was on the Jiu Jitsu mat the night before he lay his head down for the final time... and a part of all our collective hearts are now with him in heaven.
One of the best men and purest souls I've ever known... has been called home. He leaves behind an equally amazing wife, and three of what I know absolutely will be some of the future's brightest. If the goal truly is to leave this life better than you found it, well... Kason Smith did that ten fold. For any with the means, please consider contributing in any way possible to help surround the Smith family with the necessary resources to put their Dad to rest... and to simply carry on. God bless & Godspeed.
****Kason's Service will be held Wednesday, July 3 at 3pm at the Met's Hub 12903 Jones Rd. ****
