Hello, my name is Karen. I am a mother of three: a 16-year-old teenager and 4-year-old twins. Today, our family is going through a very difficult time. One of my little ones was diagnosed with leukemia in November 2025, and although we are fighting with all our strength, the reality has been very hard. The medical treatment is covered, but it is a long process (approximately two years) that brings many expenses: constant transportation to the hospital, special nutrition, care supplies, and everything he needs along the way.
During this time, we have done everything possible to organize ourselves as a family. While I stayed at the hospital taking care of my son, his father stayed home taking care of our other young daughter while continuing to work remotely. However, he also needed to relieve me at the hospital so I could rest, which required frequent time off from work. Although we always tried to manage everything, there came a point where the situation became unsustainable. Even though his absences were justified, his company could no longer continue granting so many permissions, which we understand. Unfortunately, this led to my partner losing his job, leaving us without his income at a very difficult time.
Currently, I am a full-time caregiver, so our income is very limited. Our family has already helped us a lot, but the expenses have been so great that they have become difficult to sustain. That is why today, with great humility, we are asking for help. Any contribution, no matter how small, means so much to us. And if you are unable to donate, sharing our story would also be a huge help. From the bottom of our hearts, we wish that our only concern right now could be our son’s health, and not the financial burden that comes with this situation. Hola, soy Karen, mamá de tres: un adolescente de 16 años y mellizos de 4 años.
Hoy nuestra familia está atravesando un momento muy difícil. Uno de mis pequeños fue diagnosticado con leucemia en noviembre del 2025, y aunque estamos luchando con todas nuestras fuerzas, la realidad ha sido dura.
El tratamiento médico está cubierto, pero es un proceso largo (aproximadamente dos años) que trae muchos gastos: traslados constantes al hospital, alimentación especial e insumos para su cuidado y todo lo que él necesita en este camino.
Durante este tiempo, hemos hecho todo lo posible para organizarnos como familia. Mientras yo cuidaba a mi hijo en el hospital, su papá se quedaba en casa cuidando a nuestra otra hija pequeña y, al mismo tiempo, continuaba trabajando desde casa. Sin embargo, también necesitaba relevarme en el hospital para que yo pudiera descansar, lo que implicaba pedir permisos constantes en su trabajo.
Aunque siempre tratamos de cumplir con todo, llegó un punto en que esta situación se volvió insostenible. A pesar de que los permisos eran justificados, la empresa ya no pudo continuar otorgándolos, algo que entendemos. Lamentablemente, esto hizo que mi pareja perdiera su empleo, dejándonos sin su ingreso en un momento tan difícil.
Actualmente, yo soy cuidadora a tiempo completo, por lo que nuestros ingresos son muy limitados. Nuestra familia ya nos ha apoyado mucho, pero los gastos han sido tan grandes que se han vuelto difíciles de sostener.
Por eso hoy, con mucha humildad, estamos pidiendo ayuda.
Cualquier aporte, por pequeño que sea, significa muchísimo para nosotros.
