Dear Friends and Colleagues, I’m reaching out today on behalf of our dear friend and colleague, Karen Olewine, who is once again facing an incredibly difficult challenge. She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer—a heartbreaking blow, especially after having courageously overcome stage 3 cervical cancer not long ago and entering remission. If you know Karen, you know what a remarkable person she truly is. Despite everything she has been through, she has always shown up for others. At work, she is the person who keeps everything moving, ensures everyone is cared for, and steps in before anyone even has to ask. And of course, we all know her for the love she shares through her incredible baked goods. Whether it’s a birthday, a hard week, or simply a Monday morning, she blesses the people around her with kindness, sweetness, and comfort—often in the form of something warm and homemade. Now it’s our turn to show up for her. The physical, emotional, and financial toll of cancer treatment is overwhelming. Between medical procedures, time away from work, and the many unexpected costs that come with fighting a life‑altering illness, the burden is heavy.
