On November 19, 2025, my world changed when my son, Nakius Baldonado, was involved in a serious work accident in El Paso, Texas. The accident left him in the ICU at Del Sol Medical Center, and as his mother, I immediately traveled five hours from home to be by his side. The days since have been filled with worry, hope, and unwavering faith in his recovery. As a single mother, I have always done my best to provide for my family, but this unexpected crisis has tested our strength in ways I never imagined. I have now exhausted all of my paid time off and sick leave, and I am currently on FMLA without pay. Every day, I am grateful for the progress Nakius is making, and I am holding onto hope as we prepare for his transfer to TIRR Herman Rehabilitation Center in Houston, TX, where he will continue his journey toward healing. The financial strain of being away from home, combined with the loss of income, has made it difficult to keep up with our regular bills.
