In Loving Memory of Milton Castro – Supporting His Partner, Karen Guaman and their newborn daughter, Ailany Sofia

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Milton Castro, who left us far too soon. Milton was not only a valued colleague at the Nysmith School but also a kind, generous soul who touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Milton was a member of the Nysmith’s School facilities team and I had the pleasure of working with him for over five years.

Milton passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10th, after bravely battling an illness. On August 9, 2025, he and his girlfriend, Karen, welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Ailany Sofia, into the world. What should have been a time of joy has been met with unimaginable grief and heartbreak for Karen and Milton’s extended family.

As you can imagine, this is devastating news, to Karen, his new daughter and to all of us who worked with Milton at the Nysmith School for many years. We are coming together as friends, coworkers, and a community to support Karen and their newborn daughter, Ailany, during this incredibly difficult time.

All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to them—to help with immediate needs, baby essentials, and to provide some stability as they navigate the days ahead without him.
