Support for Kai's Mommas

As many of you know, several weeks ago Jessie and Jade announced that they were preparing to welcome their first child. In the last week, Jade developed an infection which caused an extremely early labor (23 weeks), and they had no choice but to have an emergency C-Section. At 12:24am on August 3rd, Kai Wilder Metzler was brought into the world with the odds stacked against him. He and Jessie were life flighted to Missoula, while Jade was cared for and supported in place. Unfortunately, Kai was just not developed enough to fight through the day, and passed peacefully in Jessie's arms around 10:30am. Jade is recovering and doing physically well, but we are continuing to monitor her. We do not know how or why these things occurred, and the doctors do not have answers or explanations either at this time.

As expectant parents they were preparing for everything, but never imagined it would be this. While Jessie and Jade knew Kai's odds were not great, they opted to give him every chance possible medically (that did not harm him or go against doctor's guidance). While they do not know the full extent of the medical expenses that lie ahead, we wanted a way to support them in the coming months as they heal, care for each other, and figure out the best ways to celebrate Kai's short life. Any extra that is not necessary for Jade and Jessie will be donated to an Infant Loss non-profit of their choice.
