Our post office family has been devastated to hear the news of our dear friend/coworkers unexpected loss of her 1 year old grandson Kai. This sweet little ball of joy couldn't wait til his due date to arrive, and blessed the world a few months early. Just weighing a couple pounds, he amazed the doctors, family, daddy and momma by being a little fighter the moment he entered this world. Kai kept thriving, showing his fight for life,.... sooo much strength in that little body. Baby Kai finally was able to breathe on his own after weeks and weeks in the hospital, and was welcomed home to all of his loving family to snuggle and cherish.... and they have been doing that for the past 16 months.

Leading to ..... just 2 days ago, my dear friend rushed out of our post office door to the news no parent or family member ever wants to hear.

I am crushed... I am feeling the pain. I cannot imagine. Heartbroken just doesn't even touch the emotions what this family is going through. What we all are feeling for them.

We all want to help... there are so many things we cannot do, but this is one thing that I am praying will help alleviate some hardship for the family. We will be missing her here at work while she is home taking care of all her loved ones.

I am going to leave this with a text that my sweet Dee Dee said about her grandson this morning. She is only in her early 30's, so young to be a grandmother, but so wise beyond her years.

"Kai was at my house Sunday and we took a nap together. ♡ He fought a good fight… He tried, but.... I told my son, he was loaned to us for a little while but now he doesn’t have to fight anymore… My mom has him now". ❤️
