Kaila, our 24-year-old daughter, is truly the light in this world. Last year, she began experiencing persistent stomach pain that went undiagnosed for months. As her symptoms worsened in December, we found ourselves making multiple urgent care visits, searching for answers. After endoscopy, doctors discovered a golf ball-sized tumor in her small intestine - the biopsy returned a positive result for cancer.

After this difficult discovery, Kaila quickly underwent exploratory surgery and is now receiving immunotherapy in preparation for a major operation known as the Whipple procedure.

This surgery includes removing the tumor, part of her small intestine and the head of the pancreas. The road ahead is daunting: she will spend at least a week in the hospital and faces an extensive two-month recovery. Kaila and her husband, Nate, who were just married in October, are doing their best to stay strong.
