Support for Kaida's Medical Journey
Donation protected
We recently found out Kaida needs another surgery in August 2025 to receive an entirely new bone flap (the plate that replaced her skull bone) because there was a complication with her native bone. So, we are once again going back to Seattle Children's Hospital. After this surgery, she should have a smaller recovery than her previous procedures (hopefully), but she will still need a week or more stay at the hospital, CT and MRI scans, rehab, and multiple check-ups.
Also, Kaida got accepted into Children's Intensive Therapy in Portland, Oregon, where she will be doing between 4-6 hours of intensive therapy daily for three weeks in July and August of 2025. Because of her hard work over these last 5 years, she can now communicate with a good number of words, walk and run with a limp, and eat food on her own with no tubes anymore. Unfortunately, she cannot use her right hand or forearm; she is weak and delayed on the right side of her body, including her leg and foot when walking, and she is still blind on the right side. Last year, she ended up having five emergency surgeries due to an infection on her titanium plate and complications that came from that surgery, including needing a shunt placed because she can no longer absorb her brain fluid on her own. She has been recovering well so far, but there is still a long way to go, and hopefully, this therapy will help.
With these big therapies and surgeries happening, we could use all the help, support, and prayers you can give. If you want to help financially, we could use help with food and gas money, or grocery gift cards, or gas vouchers for both our stays in Portland and Seattle. If you want to help but not financially, that’s okay too. Maybe a little gift for Kaida to open in the hospital, or once we come home, or a card for her to open. This would brighten her day. Honestly, just your prayers for a good therapy session and a quick and easy recovery after surgery are enough. We are so very thankful for all the help, love, and prayers you have given in the past. Without you all, this journey would have been significantly more of a struggle, but thanks to your support, Kaida is growing, learning, staying strong, and happy every day. So thank you again for everything you have done for us in the past and all the help you will do coming up. I am so grateful!
