UPDATE. 4/07/26:
A Valentine’s day liver transplant Update:
Kaela’s Recovery & Next Steps
Hi Everyone,
We have some wonderful news to share: Kaela has been recovering steadily since her transplant on Valentine’s Day! It truly was the ultimate gift, and we are so grateful for the progress she’s made so far.
While her health is moving in the right direction, the road to full recovery is a long one.
As Kaela focuses on healing, she is currently awaiting word on her disability benefits.
In the meantime, the reality of monthly bills hasn't paused.
Our family is doing everything we can to assist, but keeping up with the costs of a home, utilities, and a car on our own has become a significant challenge.
Our goal right now is to bridge the gap for the next two months.
We want to ensure that Kaela and her young children can keep their home and their car, maintaining the sense of stability they need during this stressful time.
We know times are tough for everyone, but if you are able to contribute—no matter the amount—it will go directly toward these essential living expenses.
If you can’t donate at this time, sharing this update with your network would mean the world to us.
Thank you for being part of Kaela’s journey and for helping her family stay on their feet while she gets stronger every day.
May you All have a blessed day
Thank you so very much to Everyone that is supporting Kaela' and her children through this difficult journey.
Prayers are always welcomed.
UPDATE. 1/19/26:
Kaela has been admitted back into the hospital for another (3rd one in January) paracentesis and to be administered IV medications to hopefully relieve her symptoms from ascites.
I know she wants to be at home with her babies.
Please continue to pray for her.
We appreciate all the love, support and generosity that is being shared during this difficult time.
Truly grateful
Kaela Schope is our daughter, and at only 30 years young she is currently awaiting a liver transplant. She is a single mother of two wonderful young children, and her journey has been incredibly challenging.
Since October, Kaela has faced ongoing health issues, and only recently was she told that a liver transplant is necessary.
The pain and physical changes from her illness have made it impossible for her to work, and even leaving her home can be difficult at times. Despite these hardships, Kaela remains deeply involved in her children's lives, supporting them in their after-school activities and being there for them every single day.
Kaela is a bright, talented, outgoing, strong and beautiful young woman who loves her children with all her heart. She is a very loyal friend and will go above and beyond to help others in need.
She meets with her St. Luke's transplant team weekly and has had to have a paracentesis procedure done twice this month to relieve pain and swelling in her abdomen.
Kaela is resilient and continues doing everything she can to take care of herself and her family.
Our family has been as supportive as possible, helping with Kaela's care and her children's needs, but the financial strain is becoming more than we can manage on our own.
Monthly expenses like rent, car payments, and utilities continue to add up, and the stress of trying to make ends meet is taking a toll on all of us—especially Kaela, for whom stress can be especially harmful due to her liver disease.
We are reaching out to our community for help. Every donation will go directly toward Kaela's monthly bills and daily expenses, allowing her to focus on her health and her children during this critical time. Your support, no matter the amount, will make a real difference for Kaela and her family. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and for keeping Kaela and her children in your thoughts and prayers.
