A former Lamar HS Viking needs our love and support. Justin Poynter, class of 2001, lost his nearly 4-year battle with melanoma on Saturday, August 31st, 2024, just two days before his 42nd birthday. He leaves behind his beautiful wife Jessica, son Jayden (13), daughter Jenelle (4), and son Jayce (8 months), in addition to parents Jim and Peggy and brothers Ben and Michael, both Lamar graduates as well.

Justin endured multiple surgeries, numerous immunotherapies, clinical trials, and multiple radiation treatments, searching for a cure. All the while, Justin continued to work and led his company, Arthur Marshall, in sales for several years, which showed his Viking “warrior” mentality.

His children adored him and will miss Daddy’s fun personality. People who knew him realized that beneath his fun-loving exterior was a man very dedicated to the Lord, his family, and his career.

Over the years, the Poynter family has consistently been “givers” to the Arlington community. Now it is our time to step up and help Jessica and the Poynter children.
