Support for Julia Valle

Hello to all our friends and our community in Santa Cruz and Davenport. My name is Andrea. I am the daughter of Julia Valle. You may or may not have heard about my mom’s sudden and drastic decline in health. It started as various and seemingly disconnected illnesses, but it is now clear that she is suffering organ failure and is currently at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto awaiting an organ transplant. It is serious and we are all praying for her.

You may not have known these details, but if you are receiving this note, hopefully you know how committed my mom has been to growing and creating a sense of community within our small town of Davenport. She brought me here at a very young age and we only had each other. But now, after many years here, we have made so many friends! Over time, our family has grown. She is loved so much by my husband and me, her three grandkids, and my brother – her son –Raphael, who is in 8th grade now. My mom, Julia, has made a big impact over the years on so many families at Pacific Elementary as an educator, a kind caregiver, and friend. (Everywhere she used go in town she’d hear, “Teacher Julia!”, and it always made her smile to see her kiddos all grown-up!) Through crisis after crisis over the years, Julia has been there for our community – cooking and volunteering at the church, opening her home to families impacted by the fires, caring for little ones over the summer or when parents were sick. We are all saddened and scared for my mom. But right now I have to be strong for her and to help in the ways that I can. What she really needs now is for our community to come together and help her financially in this time of great need.

Please consider helping Julia and her immediate family. She is currently at Stanford hospital with life threatening health conditions, awaiting an organ transplant. She has not been able to work for many months and she has a long journey ahead. She is still awaiting the transplant, and then after she gets it, the recovery will be intense and take many months.. Plainly, she needs support to pay her rent and bills, and to buy groceries and school supplies for her son. Please consider donating to help Julia hold on to her apartment and support her son during this difficult time. Funds of any amount are very much appreciated.
