November 30th was the absolute best and worst day of my life all wrapped into one. After 20 hours of labor, our baby boy Mikala was born at 8:30 in the morning, but he was not breathing. He was the most beautiful boy I’d ever seen, so perfect. I take comfort in knowing I had the most amazing pregnancy—he knew nothing but happiness and peace.

The pain of losing Mikala is indescribable, and the days since have been filled with both heartbreak and gratitude. I am so grateful to have Rory by my side, and for everyone who has held us and fed us this past week. Your kindness has meant the world to us as we try to heal and honor Mikala’s memory.
