My son Juju has been going through something no child should have to face. He’s been waking up gasping and choking for air, with episodes lasting three to four minutes and sometimes turning color. The scariest part is that Juju doesn’t remember these episodes at all. I’ve taken him to multiple doctors, but so far, we still don’t have answers. Because of his condition, Juju has been taken out of school and will be doing home hospital schooling for now.

As a parent, it’s heartbreaking and exhausting to watch your child struggle and not know how to help. I’ve had to call off work, rush him to the emergency room, call 911, and take him to countless appointments. The co-pays for these visits are piling up, and the costs of daily essentials, food, and gas are becoming overwhelming as I do everything I can to focus on Juju’s health and well-being.
