My sister Amanda Shank got the worst news she could have gotten last night at 10 pm. Her husband, my brother-in-law, was in a motorcycle accident. He was driving into town, and the next thing we knew, he was life-flighted to Sutter Medical. No one notified us; we got worried and checked his Life360. His dot said he was in Roseville?! She called and called his phone, and a case manager picked up to inform my sister of his accident. We don't know the details of the accident. He is in critical condition. His three girls are waiting at home, distraught.

So far, all we actually know is that Joshua Shank was ejected from his bike in the collision.

He has fractured ribs, bilateral femur fractures, punctured lungs, and a spinal injury. He cannot move his feet or legs. The pressure in his right leg was so bad it was turning purple. They had to put a splint of some kind on it to start releasing some of the pressure.

He has a shattered pelvic bone and internal bleeding that cannot be found.

His blood pressure is too unstable to do any more procedures at this time. They cannot move him without his pressure dropping. His pain meds make his BP drop.

They were able to do one surgery. They opened his abdomen, looking for the internal bleeding. They couldn't find it, but his organs looked good.

He's in critical condition. He cannot breathe on his own. He is heavily sedated, but every time he hears my sister's voice, he tries to pull himself out to reassure her.

My brother works full-time to support his family. My sister works full-time to support their family.

At this time, she is by his side, where she should be. He is in critical condition.
