Support for Joshua Cristao - The Miracle Man

My name is Joe Di Leo and I’m starting this fundraiser for the help and support for the journey ahead for Joshua Cristao.

Josh was involved in a tragic work accident resulting in a traumatic brain injury on April 25, 2025 when he was struck in the head on a construction site. He was immediately taken to St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Ontario and he is currently still there in the ICU. Through the two weeks following, we were told by all doctors that the chance of survival was at 1% and he may never open his eyes again. He has now had 7 brain surgeries with many complications in between. With all the faith, hope, love and prayers surrounding Josh, the family and his loved ones never gave up because Josh has always been a fighter his whole life. Josh wouldn’t have wanted us to give up. Four weeks later after remaining nonresponsive, Josh woke up! He is currently opening his eyes and responding to 2-3 commands.

Josh is 22 and he has his whole life ahead of him. Josh is from a family of 6, being 1 of triplets, he has always been a warrior, and he is now our miracle. Josh adores his older brother Matteo, he has been at the hospital every day since the accident and has been the strength and foundation the family has needed at this time. Josh has always been active, playing competitive sports and loves his family and girlfriend Makayla beyond words. They have been fighting through this difficult time and have not left the side of his bed at any point during this period. We have watched his family, extended family and close friends give everything they have in fighting for Josh’s life.

We are asking during this devastating time in Tony, Maria, Matteo, Jonathon, Lucas, Makayla and Josh’s life that any contribution to the road ahead would be beneficial for the family. Josh has a very long journey ahead of him – this money will go towards medical treatments, rehabilitation, specialized therapies, and therapeutic equipment that he will require. The beneficiary of this account is Tony Cristao, Joshua’s Father who set up an in trust account for Josh. Your generosity will ease the financial and emotional strain on Josh and his family and allow them to focus on Josh’s recovery.
