Support for Joshua After Linda Barr’s Passing

It is with a heavy heart that I must share the news of the untimely passing of my dear friend and soul sister, Linda Barr. For many of you, Linda was a colleague, partner, and friend. She was a caring and selfless person who didn't have much but was always willing to help someone in need, putting their needs before her own. She devoted the last nineteen years of her life living every moment for her son Joshua, raising him into an amazing young man full of life and aspirations for the future.

Linda was part of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department family. She started her career as a Custody Assistant at Sybil Brand, station jailer, and then Inmate Reception Center. In 1999, she graduated the Sheriff's Academy Class 300 and returned as a Deputy Sheriff to the Inmate Reception Center. She patrolled Industry Sheriff's Station and then promoted to the rank of Sergeant and worked at Century Regional Detention Center. She left the Department and worked tirelessly to provide for Joshua and raise him, taking on numerous jobs and long hours as a driver for VIP, Uber, and Amazon Flex. Despite never-ending work days, she never complained and always smiled, handling her business with grace.

Linda's greatest accomplishment was seeing her son Joshua graduate from high school with full honors. She was so proud when he was accepted to College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, on a full scholarship. Becoming an empty nester, she looked forward to having him home on school breaks. Their relationship was incredibly close, sharing stories, pictures, and all of Joshua's new adventures during their evening calls, which were the highlight of her long work hours.

Now, with Linda's passing, Joshua faces the immense challenge of continuing his education and maintaining the home his mother worked so hard to provide. Funds raised will help cover outstanding utilities, taxes, and mortgage on the home, Joshua's end-of-year school expenses and flights home, and all funeral and burial arrangements. Your support will help honor Linda's legacy by ensuring Joshua can remain in their home and continue his education without financial hardship. Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser to help Joshua during this incredibly difficult time.
