My name is Mercedes Badker. On March 5th, 2026 my step dad Josh Roosa, also known to most as Roosa, had a widowmaker heart attack. His sons, Luke and Leo, were able to get an ambulance to him and he was taken into critical care in Mason City.

Josh had to have a balloon used in his heart in 4 places to try to help him with the blockages. While successful in clearing arteries, he was not out of the woods. Josh then began having irregular heart rhythm and they were unable to stabilize him.

March 6th, they had tried to shock his heart back into rhythm with no success so he was placed on life support to try to give his heart a break and to help it heal. The life support did not do what they needed it to so they put something in his chest to try to help slow his heart down as it was beating at 150 bpm. Sadly that also failed in doing what they hoped it would so he was transferred to Allina Heart Institute in the Abbott Northwestern Hospital On March 7th.

While at Allina, they put him on ECMO as a last resort to try to save him and his heart. March 8th my mom Jasmine Roosa received a call that she was needed at the hospital and to call family. Jasmine had been off of work since March 5th to be with Josh.

When Josh and Jasmines family arrived on March 8th, they were told that the ECMO couldn’t help any further and that there was nothing more they could do. Josh’s BP was 70/50 if not lower and he was only kept alive due to the machines. Sadly my mom had to make a decision nobody should make and decided to take him off the ECMO and life support to let him rest peacefully. Josh passed away with his family there on March 8th. Josh chose to be an organ donor and was taken to the OR. Jasmine was able to be in the OR with Josh so he wasn’t alone as he took his last breath. If you knew Josh that’s exactly what he would of wanted as Jasmine was his peace.

Josh was only 39 with so many more years ahead of him. He has 2 boys Luke 17 and Leo 15 along with 2 step daughters Mercedes 26 and Madison 24. He lived for his kids and his wife Jasmine Roosa. Trying to describe him is so hard because his personality was one of a kind. He was a helpful and caring person. He was very straight to the point and hoped to raise his boys the same way. He never deserved to pass at such a young age. We are hoping that this will help make things easier with funeral expenses, bills due to only 1 income and medical expenses that will be coming.
