Josh Freeman is a Nurse Practitioner who has been living with Pulmonary Fibrosis, a rare disease. This is to raise funds to support him with life expenses and medical bills. Josh is a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend to many. He is generous, kind and compassionate. He is a rock to those he loves and one of the most selfless people around. All funds raised will go directly to Josh.

Here is an update from Josh himself. Please find his support page on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/NewLungsForJosh/

"Hey all I know it has been a while since I’ve posted. There has been some recent significant events I’m finally getting around to sharing. I have had a continued decline in my lung function my last reading was at 24% in August and I can tell I’m worse than that now. I found out 2 days ago that I will be getting laid off effective 12/31/19, which means I will no longer have health insurance, and I am to the point where I am too sick to be able to perform the needed functions of a nurse practitioner. I have been struggling at my current position so I have decided to submit FMLA paperwork related to my lung issues (which was recommended that I do months ago, but I’m stubborn) as clearly my disease impacts my ability to perform my job duties. I am essentially on 4-7 liters of O2 constantly outside of work. I am hoping to be able to obtain short term disability that would carry over after the lay off until I can get actual SSDI. I will have to pay for a new health insurance plan as I can’t get on Medicare until being on disability for 2 years, and unlike my current insurance that would have flown me to Denver once I got the call and paid 10K for living for the 3 months post transplant they would require me to move there once listed. I would not financially be able to pay for my home in Lawrence and a place in Denver nor do I want to spend all that time away from my family when I could die while waiting for transplant, during the surgery, or from one of the many post complications. So after saying all of that I wanted to let you all know that from this point forward I will no longer be seeking a lung transplant and switching my focus to palliative care as I want to spend the quality time I have left with those I love. This could obviously all change should my circumstances change, but I have thought and prayed hard on it and am at peace with the decision. I don’t feel it is giving up, but rather focusing more on my mental and spiritual health and just giving it to God. I thank you all for your continued love, prayers, and support as I begin this new path especially for my family."
