Support for Josh and Lauren Yeon
In July last year Lauren and Josh’s Mother, Jill lost her battle with pancreatic cancer. Lauren is 18 and Josh is 13. They are estranged from their father who lives in Korea and they have not had any contact for many years.
Josh is in year 9 at Trinity Grammar School and with the support of the school was able to stay at Trinity during his mother’s illness and passing last year. Josh loves Trinity, he is a capable student and is a keen sportsman playing in the 9As football team. Outside of school, he plays football for Sydney Uni. Josh has a wide group of friends at Trinity. He has utilised the very supportive counselling services that Trinity offers.
At the time of Jill’s passing, Lauren was completing Year 12 at Meriden and preparing for her HSC. The Meriden year 12 parent group collected money to buy a car (incl insurance for 18 months and some petrol vouchers) for Lauren. A very practical gesture that has helped Lauren and Josh get around.
Lauren has accepted an offer to study sport and exercise science at UTS in 2019. Once Lauren finished school, they needed to find somewhere to live, which they have done over the Christmas break and they are now renting a small 2 bedroom unit.
Lauren is doing as much casual work as she can and once school goes back she has a job at Meriden as sport coach and in administration. This will cover the rent and some living expenses.
To enable Josh to remain at Trinity in 2019 and to support Josh and Lauren with some living expenses we are seeking your support. During 2019 Lauren will work with her support group to determine what is best (and possible) for Josh for the remainder of his schooling.
A donation of any amount will make a difference and be very much appreciated by Lauren and Josh.
Any funds over the amount needed for 2019 will be used to support Josh’s schooling in 2020-2022.
