2022 has been quite the year for my sister and brother-in-law. While the world is crawling back to a new normalcy, it has been a rollercoaster of emotions for their family.

The year was off to a great start with God's blessing of their precious daughter Emma being welcomed into their family. Later in the year, Josh's father, Dennis, passed away after battling kidney cancer for a year and a half.

After hitting their new stride as a family of 6, things were on the upside again when they found another home to accommodate their growing family with a move-in date expected by the end of the year. As that date drew closer, Josh began to notice a sore on his tongue that wouldn't go away and in December he was unfortunately diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of his tongue.

He is scheduled for surgery at MUSC on January 12, followed by an intense radiation regimen for over a month. Due to the severity of treatment, he will be having an extended stay in Charleston, over 2 hours away from their new home.

Anyone that's met Josh knows how personable and likable he is. He's never met a stranger and could humble even Ken Jennings with his vast knowledge of Jeopardy and Trivia answers. He's enriched the lives of so many children at Ocean View Baptist church over the years as a volunteer for the Kid's Ministry program. Most importantly, he is a wonderful father, husband and son who has blessed our family with many laughs and 4 wonderful children.

Josh has a battle ahead of him and is in a fight for his life. It’s a fight that will require an unbelievable amount of faith, love, prayers and support.
