My friend is facing one of the hardest moments of her life as she cares for her father, Jose Cruz Guardiola, who is 87 years old and in critical condition. His heart is functioning at only 14 percent, and he has been diagnosed with acute heart failure. He can no longer talk, walk, or sit up, and his health is declining rapidly. She doesn't know how much more fight he has left, and every day brings new challenges and expenses.

Her father lives in Tamaulipas, Mexico, and she works two jobs here to send all her earnings to support him. In our culture, we do everything we can to help our parents, but the costs of medical bills, essential items like diapers and food, doctor visits, and paying caregivers for 24/7 support are becoming overwhelming. She visits him whenever possible, balancing her responsibilities here and in Mexico, always making sure her father is looked out for.
