I’m asking for your help to support a family who is incredibly dear to my heart. Stephanie— a co-worker, now a beloved friend—is facing one of the hardest seasons of her life. Her husband, Jorge, only 41 years old, has been battling the long, difficult journey of heart failure.

In recent weeks, his condition has worsened significantly. Despite fighting exhaustion, pain, and the daily responsibilities of being a father of four, Jorge has continued to smile, work when he could, and bring peace to his home. But he can no longer work, and doctors have now diagnosed him with terminal heart failure.

Following an appointment in Lubbock, TX, he was immediately admitted to the hospital. He will undergo surgery there and then be transferred to Fort Worth for further treatment. A full heart transplant is likely in his future. The unknowns of waiting for such answers can be long and uncertain.

Stephanie is now juggling the roles of full-time parent of four small children (ages 1,3,6,and 8), caregiver, and the sole financial provider—working two jobs (day job and night shifts) while trying to keep her family together. Due to the circumstances Stephanie will not be able to continue working both jobs and be a caregiver. Not working means no provision for her family and working means not being with Jorge in these very important hours. With looking forward to the cost of travel, hotels, childcare, meals, and daily bills piling up, the financial burden has become overwhelming. Because Jorge was ineligible for life insurance due to his condition, their future is even more uncertain.
