On Friday, March 20th, my son Jorden was in a serious motorcycle accident on his way to work. In an instant, everything changed for Jorden and our family. As a senior in high school, this accident has completely altered what should have been a memorable final few months before graduation.
The accident: Jorden was thrown from his bike about 50 feet after impact and rushed to St. Cloud Hospital, where doctors discovered he had sustained multiple severe injuries: a punctured right lung, a lacerated liver, two broken fingers, several broken bones in his left hand, and a completely broken humerus in his right arm. Has had undergone 2 surgeries and has 1-3 more to go. After his first surgery, he ended up having an emergency surgery the following day as he developed something very dangerous and painful called compartment syndrome. This added a whole new level of complexity and concern to the already stressful situation. Now, Jorden faces a long and difficult recovery, with doctors estimating it will be 6 months or better before he can even consider returning to work. Right now, he cannot do anything independently and needs help with basic daily tasks—bathing, eating, and even going to the bathroom. I (his mom) have been by his side at the hospital every day, taking time off work to care for him, and we still don’t know what life will look like once he is able to come home. The financial burden is overwhelming. Any donations will go toward Jorden’s medical expenses, continued care after discharge, his car payment, insurance, cell phone bill, impound fee for his motorcycle, any legal fees that may arise, transportation costs to and from appointments and anything else needed to support him while he heals and gets back on his feet. As his parents, we simply do not have the funds to cover all these expenses on our own. We are asking for help during this incredibly difficult time. Any support—no matter the amount—will make a difference as Jorden works toward recovery and regaining his independence back. Thank you for keeping Jorden in your thoughts and for any help you can provide.
