Joonie was my sweet girl and always has been goofy and loving and cute since I adopted her in 2019. She loved looking out the window and sniffing the fresh air just as much as I do and she was a little weird like me too <3 if you've met Joonie you know she had some quirks and a lot of love to give. we are just these funky connected beings, her and I.

Sadly, since the start of June, Joonie was in and out of hospitalizations for digestive and urinary tract issues, and after her last stay at the vet she developed quickly worsening respiratory symptoms that was final the turning point for her this week

I feel so much love for her and I also feel her pain-- throughout her life she's had health issues of all kinds but recently her condition declined very rapidly, and this Thursday we had to make the heartbreaking decision to help her end her journey here and pass on.

Along with the immense emotional cost of losing Joonie from this, there is a financial burden leftover from doing all we could to help her and the exorbitant abstract charges of veterinarian care. Due to the complexity of her issues and the duration of her stays at the hospital, the total cost of her care at this time is about $12,000, estimated to be $6000 out of pocket if the insurance company approves all the claims, and still waiting on the cost of her final procedures.

Joonie was a very special weird girl who made friends with everyone she met-- if you knew Joonie, send her a smack on the butt and a kiss through the airwaves-- she'll love it <3 I'm so sad to have lost her but so thankful that through it all her (and my) community has already been so supportive and kind.
