Life can change so quickly.
Jonah is a sweet 6 year old boy who loves Lego, playing with his little brother Jaxon, and spending time with his parents, Joseph and Brittany. He lights up his family’s lives with his kind heart and sweet personality.
In recent months, Jonah’s family and kindergarten teacher noticed he was moving more slowly and seemed to be having difficulty with many everyday tasks. On January 20, 2023, Joseph and Brittany took him in to meet with their pediatrician and received a heartbreaking diagnosis of Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).
DMD is a degenerative muscle disease which will over time weaken the muscles in Jonah’s entire body including his heart, lungs and brain. Children with DMD, like Jonah, will require a wheelchair in childhood, full time care, and have a drastically shortened life expectancy.
As you can imagine, all of us who love Jonah are devastated.
There is currently no cure for DMD but there are treatments available which may slow the progress of the disease so Jonah can have a longer life full of joy with his family. Joseph and Brittany have already had to take a considerable amount of time off from work to care for Jonah and take him to medical appointments.
Joseph and Brittany have decided to move back to California from Idaho in order to have the love and support of their family close at hand. Brittany will also be leaving her job so that she can be home full time to support Jonah.
All funds raised through this GoFundMe will go directly to supporting Jonah and his family as they begin this difficult journey. Specifically, this money will go towards both medical and moving expenses, and allowing their family to take Jonah to some of the places his heart dreams of going now while he is able to be mobile on his own. Places every kid loves like Disneyland and Legoland.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and support Jonah and his family. It is deeply appreciated.
In honor of Jonah, please hug your loved ones tight because life can change so quickly.
